I am looking in to breeding South American fish when I move and set up my new fish room. I am not so much looking to sell them as have some fun and add some extra money to help off set costs of a large fish room.

So far here is what I am looking at;

Tetras, Cardinal, Red-Blue Columbian, Blue, Lemon, and Green Fire,

Cichlids, Angels, Apistogrammas, Severums, Rams, and convicts,

Plecos, L046, L104, L121, L134, L169, L211, L260, L306, and L333,

Other fish, Ottos, Bumble Bee cats, stingrays, and Cory Cats,

I know that some of these guys will be hard to get and not all have been reported as breeding in captivity or need large tanks/ponds. This is going to be part of my long term fish keeping/breeding goals, so I am looking for a challenge.

What else would you add to this list?
Is there any thing else that you would remove from this list?

Success with any project will yield results that equal your dedication to what you are doing. " "A job worth doing is worth doing right!",

It's just like learning or teaching someone something new - results are often reflective of dedication and attention to detail.

Its definitely possible, but you would need a HUGE fishroom for the breeding tanks and multiple growouts to support each one...not to mention the time required to get some of the more difficult species breeding such as adjusting and cycling ph/kh/temp to promote spawns.

I currently have 2 230 gallons, 1 150 gallon, 6 75 gallons, 9 50 gallon breeders, 6 40 gallon breeders, and a few misc tanks. I will be getting a large number of 15 and 20 gallons as things get going. I am planning on using 45 gallon drums to age water before water changes. I also hope to have the drums plumbed together with a pump for doing water changes so all I have to do is flip a switch and turn some valves.
