So I have an empty 10 I just replaced everything in (see thread Gutted. To see why) and am thinking of throwing one of those tiny SA lungs that JA has right now onto my order..

Have heard good and bad things about mixing lungs with bichirs knife fish cichlids and wolf fish... So I'd like to get a consensus on this plan

My LFS has several seemingly semi short body baby albino Senegal's, my plan would be to get 2 of those to test how the lung would do with them. Then, hopefully like my wolf, being raised with bichirs will make the lung do better with them in the long run.

Thoughts?

The green Texas will be at a friends house by the time the lung would make it in there, as would my festae and my stalsbergi is getting his own tank in the living room so the really aggro ones will be out by the time it gets big enough, only severum and peacock bass will be there by then

Severums would be 50/50 as it's a vegetarian. Lungfish and vegetarian fish dont mix very. Many vegetarian fish thinks that lungfish skin is a big vegetables. If you plan on mixing lungfish and cichlids don't mix any juveniles cichlids as at that stage they are oportunistic and will munch in the lungfish skin especially the fins. For bigger cichlid best mix them with picsivore type cichlid and stay away from herbevore type cichlid, especially tilapias and veija types. They will eat your lungfish skin till it will develop skin infection and die.

I had success with lungfish and woldfish as long as the lungfish is not small.

The problem with African lungs is their bad eyesight and deadly bite.

I'm talking SA lungs though

I'll avoid those species, this guy will be in the main once its big enough (they're only 2-3 inch so it'll be a while) so the sev might be outgrown by then and sold, might do it just for the safety of the lung if I decide on it. Then it'll only be bichirs wolves a lone pbass and dats

Be careful with the Dats. They pick at long skinny stuff even when it is pretty good sized. They just like to hunt and bash.

My 4 bar was like that but only to my pbass, probably because it was also gold with black stripes, my dats are lil right now and are the puppys of the tanks as far as attitude is concerned. Do they start doing it when older? I have 2, a clean 3 bar and a 3 with some symmetrical dotting kind of giving him a figure 8 about 3-4 inch

No plecos with Sal. My Sal has a payara for a buddy. Payara always stays close and won't let any other fish near him. Been like that for couple years. Lol. Watch decor, mainly things with holes that he can get caught in. Mine bout drowned in a resin old car. Pulling a pissed off 2' Lungfish caught in a car(decor) from a tank is NOT fun! They're very strong and he was barking at me very loudly. Sal's grow fast.
