Hello, Have any of you kept SA Lungfish with Real parrot cichlids ( Hoplarchus psittacus) or any other south/central american cichlids?

thanks

The SALs are really mellow, I'd keep an eye on the cichlids in case they start picking on it.

How big are the cichlids in question, and how big is the SAL?

+1. I keep my SAL with a group of Geophagus sp. "Orange Head Tapajos", a leopard ctenopoma, L200, L18, and a zigzag eel with no problems. I was planning on putting my pair of Heros in with them but they get too aggressive when they breed so I decided against it. As long as the fish you are planning to put in with your SAL is mellow I wouldn't worry too much.

The Hoplarchus are 5-7 inches, the Lungfish is around 18-20 inches. I was planning on putting them in a 300 gallon aquaria.

Abarilot, if it isn't to much trouble could you post a picture of your tank?

I have a breeding pair of true parrot cichlid in my tank along with my other lungfishes. The parrots will just leave it alone even the lungfish will sometimes venture to the parrots's breeding site. Sometimes the lungfish will just chill in the breeding site. Should be fine. My parrots are around 6" and SAL is 39".

King-el i would love to see a pic of your tank

Check my old tread of a full tank shot. You won't be able to see the the parrots though. I will post new pics when I have time.
