You may want to consider what size tank you are going to need, these fish get 18-20" at least, sometimes bigger. I would think a 135 gallon minimum.

60 bucks is what they go for at my LFS.

The payara are a neat fish i have 2 my self i paid around 40 Canadian for each of mine. They are about 6" long and i've had them for about 2 months now. Ive actually have them eatting red worms and frozen krill most of the time, but i will give them a treat of a gold fish once a week. The only fish they seem to bug are the ones they can get in there mouths.
