Are you talking about the little thing that sits in your tank and changes color in the presence of ammonia? If so, I believe they are a one time use kind of deal. They just turn color to alert you to ammonia, but then they don't turn back when the ammonia is gone.

It claims to be good for 12 months, able to go from toxic to safe in 4 hours.
Sounds perfect from the advertising.
