:( :WHOA:

:(

first my 2 small orange pikes killed my baby red fin wolf, then my tsn ate one of the orange pikes the next morning then after feeding my tanks market shrimp i wake up in the morning and see my female 8" johanna pike all black gaSPING for air and doing the deathroll, tryied to save her and even moved her to a30g by herself she struggled for life for 4-6 hrs and finally died before i got home from work. her butt had a red ring around it and i pushed out a small rock but later on small pieces of shrimp came out. very sad and upsetting turn of events. i gave my female an autopsy and found nothing in her stomach so cause of death is a total mystery. i will post pics later to upset to transfer them tonight.:( :(

That IS a shame. I gotta say though, this was predictable. When I saw your signature in another thread a couple of days ago (“`90gal: school tank/ growout for pbass and tsn cat”) I thought to myself, “Bad idea. Why? When will people stop putting RTC’s & TSN’s in ‘community’ tanks?” Not to berate you, that was seriously my honest thought. These fish simply cannot be trusted with others. AquaMojo photo-documents his RTC, Ming, eating his 18” Clown Knife and, among a host of other fish, a 5” piece of rock quartz!

he put the oranges in the 90 cause they were psychotic and killed anything that hit the water while in the 30.

Largemouthbadbass: pikes are very succeptible to inner parasites. If they start to just stay on the bottom and breathing hard, they good as dead...

Ouch, seems like everyone is having pike problems as of late. Annoying thing is its hard to get them to eat pellets that have internal parasite meds in them. Next time i DO get some pikes, I'm gonna treat the tank for about a week and a half for internal parasites. Not sure if there is a med. that allows for straight to the tank application, but that would be the best bet. That or gut loading minnows...that WILL work.

Another thing I noticed is after feeding market shrimp this happens occassionally. It might have something to do with ammonia spikes, which pikes can be very sensative to. I've gotten really fickle on water changes, Magan makes fun of me cuz i do so many of them a week.

Get a UV Sterilizer, and treat for internal parasites. Another thing I've been doing is doing a water change after I feed. Its only like 10%...but it still helps to remove any excess food and add some fresh water. Just a suggestion.

Seriously sorry for your loss's bro. I know it sucks to loose your prized fish. Don't give up though, you are a GREAT fish keeper with lots of talent. You've got a gift, use it. ;)

no harm intended...

Peanut... Have you tried using Hikari (Aquarium Solutions) Prazipro? The rep. I spoke with was very helpful and claimed it has a 85% kill rate in the first dose for internal and external parasites. I've seen it work wonders on external parasites, but can't personaly vouch for internal ones.
