Title says it all, still hurts that I lost this fish last year. Grew out from around 4" to 23". Passed away from no apparent cause.
Tank is custom 26" wide

wow how long did it take you to grow him out that big?

was he WC or CB? either way it sucks to loose such a large monster with good patterns like that. Most of the ornates I see loose those nice dark patterns at like 12"

Dr B, I suspect he was wc. I found him at a hole in the wall LFS that specialized in oddball fish. Also to note I got him back in 2006. In the market here Ornates were extremely rare until the cb's really came into the Calgary market in around 2009.

oh ok well sorry for your loss hopefully your ornate your growing out now can get close to that monstrous size

It's never good to loose a fish regardless of the size. I am sorry for your loss. Hope you will find another ornate soon. Back in the days I used to lose bichirs from no apparent cause too. Now I QT all my fish at least a week before adding.

I really have respect for you, because you didn't quit after losing a prized fish. Keep at it, there are plenty of monster bichirs ahead for you.
