So a while back I got tired of seeing so many baby RTC's get sold at the cheap at Pet Supermarkets with virtually no info. I don't have to tell you my frustration with it MFK, I'm sure you all feel the same and it isn't only restricted to the RTC.
Anyway, a while back I bought myself a little RTC/TSN hybrid cat at about 2". I've raised him from a 40 gallon wide, to a 75 gallon, and to a 120 gallon, and he's now just over a foot. Very beautiful fish.
In the 120, he shared the tank with two real nice Tiger Oscars which he never had a problem with until they paired up for spawn and started beating on him.
I had had a plan all along to give the cat a nice home but I was going to have to execute it early. The 120 gallon tank was of course not going to be his final home. His final home was going to be a 20-30 foot and almost 3 feet deep outdoor pond at a local cemetery. I managed to contact the keeper there and was told he'd be more than willing to take it.
The pond is beautiful and has many cichlids and large koi. It has a group of turtles but the guy say's they're very friendly. I've seen small cichlids swimming around the turtles without so much as a twitch so my caution's relieved. I put him in this past weekend and I checked up on him today and he was doing great, got his color back and was resting at the bottom next to a big pleco.
I'm gonna miss the little guy but at least he's got a nice home now.
