Sad day........done with tigers for good.......

A couple of days ago during a water change he tried to jump out the lid as it was cracked to let the hose fill the tank back........a blood blister formed on above his eye socket.......two days of disoriented swimming..........finally gave up last night...... 16" and flawless........no more tiger fish for me....

I had the same thing happen years ago but mine hit so hard it knocked himself out and he never recovered. Sorry for the loss, it happens in this hobby, don't give up

Sucks, sorry for the loss.
Can't give up on ATF's no matter what any big ATF owner says lol. These fish are very unique and satisfying, I'm sure this is not the end of Tigers for you buddy

Try VATF, I think they are the most amazing ATF to own (oh and Wes/FUGUPUFF has some coming in soon haha)...

What size tank was he in? I've observed that ATFs don't jump unless spooked bad, bad water or small tank.

I have had him 3 years......he was in a 72" by 36" by 30".......never spooked I wasn't even in the room.......and my water is pristine.......I have small kids so he learned early on not to spook...........

He was a nice looking gatf. It seems to be the nature of many characins to dart, jump etc. Just my opinion but you may want to consider a dorado. They seem to be uniquely aware of their surroundings and I've never had one jump or hit a wall.
