ok well i woke up this morning on my way to school and i went to feed my fish, as i aproched the tank of my red devil i noticed all the plants were uprooted, the gravel was all messed up, and my jd didnt follow my red devil like he alwasy did, so i started searchiing for my jack demsey and there he was on the corner of the aqurium behind the heater completly RUIIINNEDD i told myself for sure he was dead since he was white like snow ,so as i took him out of the tank i saw abit of breathing so i immidietly took out my ten gallon, pluged in a heater, with an bubble maker for oxigen, filled the tank with 25 % of his old aqarium water and poored in 75% of new declorinated tap water, i have no more salt so i doubled the declorinator dosage which is said to also heal cuts and wounds and reduce strees. i will be going to school now so i will take a horrific picture tonight, he also appears to have very cloudy eyes almost all white, good news is that he does swim , hes just very beaten up any sugestions on wat i can do would be great, he is a veryyy tough fish and i think the first fish to every live a beating by my red devil.

sorry for the long post

melafix, salt, boost temp, pray like hell

Sorry for that. I've had it happen to me too. It's heart wrenching to watch..... :(

Sounds as if you've done all you can. However should he pull through there is a chance that his cloudy eyes will return to normal. I had a nice Red Empress get mauled by my Polystigma and after about two weeks of stress free living he was pretty much back to normal. Just do your water changes keep the lights off and hopefully he'll recover in no time.

sounds to me like you want more fish besides that RD. might be time to get rid of him instead of subjecting more fish to an early demise.

that sucks to hear. hope hes doing a little better when ya get home.

ok well thanks alot guys and i pretty much learned my lesson with my red lol. but i wanted to no if it is normal that my jds eyes who were very white are now kinda peeling off( like just the white part is peeling off his eye is this normal? he is swiming fine but doesnt seem to see my hand or food, i put my hand in the tank right infront of his face and he didnt see it, is he now blind?

i hope he is not blind i have a jd to and she is my most prized possessoin when i started on of my 55gal i had a jd and a red devil and they got along for awhile a untill the red devil caught up to my jd in size then i had to give him up to a good fish store.it wasn't easy but it had to be done.. just think about it unless you have the money to put him in a tank on his own..GOOD LUCK!!:):)

ya eveybody keeps telling me that, but ive had this fish for almost 5 years since he was about 1 inch, if i could find someone with a biig tank that wants it than i will give it to them, but i wont feel good afterwards just dumping him off in those 20 gallon tanks at the lfs,not knowing where he will end up,atleast now i no hes happy in his 65 gallon alone.
