I am the livestock manager at my LFS. Im in charge of half the employees, livestock sales, and keeping fish, reptiles, birds, and rodents alive. Well about 2 months ago the store manager got caught with her hand in the cookie jar and we got a new one. the new store manager has fired all but one of my livestock employees, two of the cashiers and the 2nd asst manager. The store is a frickin disaster.
i went on vacation last week because my wife gave birth and when i came back, my store was a wreck. they managed to kill 1500 feeder comets in 2 days, let a $200 snake out, the rats and mice ate each other, and the majority of my reptiles were malnurished and the other half has internal parasites. I got the feeling they realised they need me more than they thought.
I stay neutral on all in-store arguments so i get to hear all the juicy stuff that happens. well all but one employee has a problem with how the store is being run now and all of them argue good points. so i decided to talk to the GM today about the situation. i suggested he talk to all the employees because if nothing is done about it, he'll be trying to run a store without employees. it seemed i was wasting his time and all the others who talked to him got the same feeling.
after work today i went by the memphis humane society where some friends of mine work and got a job there.
i had to give my 2wk notice at my own LFS. its sad that one woman can come in to run a store and ruin it. many of us have been working there and running the store succesfully for over a year and she fires/runs off most of them in a month.
one fun bit of info is that one of the guys we hired to replace another had undercover cops drag him out. he was wanted in 4 cities for everything from armed robbery to suspition of murder. seems his ex-wife is missing.
