i came downstairs this moring and found my 4 inch peecock bass completly distroyed from my 5 inch red eye puffer,Only thing that was left was the middle ,the head and the tail was shredded has anyone heard of red eye puffers killing other fish
I had a red eye that was about 2" that would constantly go after my 5" pike. He wasn't big enough to do much damage, but he'd latch on to the pike's tail and go for a ride until he finally let go. I would say he was pretty aggressive though.
Made the mistake of mixing red eyes with other fish once. These guys have no sense of compassion! took out a needle nose and a red tailed barracuda bin one night, tore up another cuda in the am while i watched (he went straight back to the store). Thought i could get away with the fish higher in the column and three times his size, not even close
In addition to peacock bass being pushovers outside of breeding, red eyes are quite possibly opne of the most aggressive puffers for their size. Mine were much worse than almost anything I've ever kept at a similar size. I actually had to move mine to a tank with a large red eared slider, and I noticed after a while the slider would spend more time on land than in the water. Upon furhter observation, the puffer would nip and harass the turtle when it was in the water -.-. I eventually ended up getting it its own 20 gal.
