Had to put down one of my oscars. He was so badly and continuously beaten by my 10" albino that he became so stressed out that he started losing all of his slime coat. Just popped him into the freezer to let his metabolism slow down to a sleep.
Fun little guy not so friendly to my fingers when in the tank, but he would let me hand feed him. I'll miss him so.

On another note, I finally got around to doing one of my other tanks with pool sand.... definately looks much better, can't wait for everything to settle so I can pop the fish in there.

Bittersweet.

bummer i would of gave him a bath in clove oil but that works to sorry for your loss

Sorry for the loss.

I don't know much about euthanizing fish, but I don't think "the freezer" is the best way to do it, next time (hopefully there won't be;)) use clove oil.

I've heard the freezer thing is actually kinda cruel because they freeze to death. I know I wouldnt want that. Let me say that I had a similar exspeiance. I had an albino oscar that had hole in the head, pop eye, and some other crap. I tried for 3 weeks to save him but he just got worse and wosre. I finally just put him in a 5 gallon bucket and added some clove oil. About an hour later he was gone. It sucke dto hav eto put him down but better that than him starving to death and suffering.

sucks, i would of gotten rid of or seperated the fish long ago if i knew he was the victim of concentrated agression though

sorry for the loss, i usually pop the gills unless they are tooo big then i just wack their heads kinda like a rat before i feed it too snake. and no i am not cruel its FAST and they dont have to suffer

sorry for your loss man its gotta be hard losing such a cool fish that would eat out of your hands and all

easiest / least painful is a swift chop with a large sharp knife that severs spine (and head)
