Sad day today. Woke up to one of my pond fish swimming upside down. Got home from shopping and found him dead. He was 9 1/2 inches :(. Sad because ive had this fish when it was only an inch

What do you guys think he died from? Like i said he was swimming upside down.

Looks like swim bladder disease.

Probably just age, a 9 1/2 inch gold fish, is an old goldfish. Also, goldfish these days are usually all inbred as feeders so the quality isn't the best.

yea he was pretty old :(

If he made it to that size, he lived a full and happy life, you did a good job as an owner, but everything dies, and unfortunately, most fish live way shorter than humans do

I would have to agree that it's most likely a swim badder issue that did the fish in. I highly doubt that it died from old age since common goldfish can get bigger than that in ponds. Sorry for you loss. Was the belly soft when you touched it?
