Sad day today

Sad day today. Woke up to one of my pond fish swimming upside down. Got home from shopping and found him dead. He was 9 1/2 inches . Sad because ive had this fish when it was only an inch

What do you guys think he died from? Like i said he was swimming upside down.

Probably just age, a 9 1/2 inch gold fish, is an old goldfish. Also, goldfish these days are usually all inbred as feeders so the quality isn't the best.

If he made it to that size, he lived a full and happy life, you did a good job as an owner, but everything dies, and unfortunately, most fish live way shorter than humans do

I would have to agree that it's most likely a swim badder issue that did the fish in. I highly doubt that it died from old age since common goldfish can get bigger than that in ponds. Sorry for you loss. Was the belly soft when you touched it?
