Yesterday was an overall MISERABLE Saturday for me, but the capper was that I woke up and my beloved new Clown Knife is NOWHERE TO BE SEEN.
I turned the tank light on and couldn't find him anywhere. Checked the bottom for a corpse, checked my Oscar to see if he's any fatter (he's not really big enough to eat the CK, but I checked anyway) and I checked all around the outside of the tank to see if he jumped.
HE'S JUST GONE. I'm really pissed and sad over that, but I'm also equally curious as to where he is. No one in the tank other than the O could have possibly eaten him, including the Mystery Snails so quickly overnight, and there would have been some type of skeletal remains had he been picked over.
That was an awesome fish, GREAT eater and not shy in the least. He became my favorite the first day I got him, only about 3 weeks ago. Had a spot pattern I haven't seen on ANY other CKs.
He'll be greatly missed, even being new and "just" a little fish.

Sorry to here that. I hope he's just hiding somewhere in your tank. Did you check your filter?

Thanks kd. I basically tore the tank apart and he's definitely not in there. I did look inside the filters, but they'll get a better examination in a few minutes when I clean the tank.

Sorry to here that man. Had the same thing happen with a fire eel. One day swimming happily, the next gone. Never found a trace of him. Either the cat got when he jumped out or he beamed back home.

you've probably already checked this, but have you looked inside of any decor? if they are small enough they can swim into the openings and get trapped in the hollow parts, had that happen to mine when he was about 3 inches.

Sorry for you too dragonfish. At least you have a cat that MIGHT explain it. I checked everything in and around the tank, nada. I'm not completely ruling out my O, but he just doesn't *seem* big enough to have eaten a fish 2/3 his size without some telltale sign, and I HAVE seen a few tails hanging out of his mouth since I've had him... :irked:

I did islander, yesterday morning as well as this morning when I cleaned the tank. I even checked up under the top to see if he jumped and got wedged up under there. On the 1 in 100,000,000 chance he shows up again, I plan on naming him Kris Angel...
I've never *LOST* a fish like this before.
