Had to donate my 10 inch Nile Tilapia to one of my local shops today. Grew it from a fry and I'm kinda surprised how sad it was to let him go. Was too big and became aggressive to others. I probably won't ever see another one for sale in a pet store. It was harder than when they just die. Just thought I'd share it with others who care about their fish.
I feel your pain man, when I moved I had to give away my turtles to a good buddy of mine. This was over 10 years ago though. Now that I look back on it I knew it was right as hehad many turtles and could provide a better home for them.
I would get so mad at my Aro every single day for stealing other tankmates food and beating them up. getting bit by him was a daily thing, even made my girlfriend draw blood when I was gone for a few days. Jumping and splashing waking me up every night. Finaly couldnt take it anymore and sold him to a guy with a bigger tank. Didnt know how much he grew on me and I still mis him to this day.
I've sold fish before thinking I was ok, and then after awhile I kicked myself for selling it. I have even gone back and bought the same species again, but it's not the same even if it is nice.

second that.. i think some of us just gets attached to their personality. it's what makes them, them. same goes with my dog.. I could get another of the same breed, but it's simply not the same.
