about 2 years ago my dad told me a friend was getting rid of a complete 150 gallon reef tank with every thing i mean every thing huge skimmers and fancy metal halide lights, and it was all free my dad asked if i wanted it and i said "fish are *** why would i ever want some little dumb thing that i cant interact with?" now i am remembering this and it makes me sad because now i am tying to get a reef going.

what storys like this do you have?

like 5 years ago something like that happned to me but it was with a snakehead

A couple years ago I was house sitting and the house owners uncle decided to get rid of a glass tank (6'x3'x2.5'). He offered it to me FREE. When they went to move it using several fairly drunken friends, they ended up dropping it at a stair landing. I could have cried.

Keeping two black moors in a five gal with two other fish ( shared family tank). OK at the time I didn't know they were a kind of goldfish and now thinking back, I'm like I tortured some fish on purpose basically and they died a cruel death.

Just last week I got offered 2-150 gallon tanks along with a 60 gallon and a 50 gallon Hex ALL FOR FREEEEE!!!!!!! from my sisters friend who didn't want them because they were her ex-boyfriends. Little while later she calls and tells me sorry I can't give them to you and I was like why whats up? She goes and her exact words are, " My dad just chopped them all up with a chainsaw and smashed them to peices". I guess her dad HATED her boyfriend so it was a BIG loss to me. I can only Imagine what I would of done with those tanks. :(

i just picked up 2 high grade fh that were 1inch and in the same tank. i put them in a 40 overnight to acclimate them and in the morning there was only on survior. i guess they don't like each other in my waters :(

kkk got one for ya....
I got a 50g tank with 28 fish in it all sorts of everything with a borleyi (good sized) mostly electric yellows, huge bala and a huge common pleco. we carefully moved them in 10g tanks and 2g buckets an hour a way where I lived. I put the tank upstairs in my room 2 weeks later, i get a call at 7am from my mom saying there was 2 inches of water in the tank the rest was on the floor. most all the fish survived. so I ghetto rigged a tank downstairs with a filter and heater until i could get to the store and buy a tank.Got home set up the new tank and put the fish in there because I had them all in a big plastic container thing I had no choice. Once they were alright, I went to school. I got home from school, and there was soap everywhere and all.. yes ALLL of my fish were dead. the people I live with put soap in my tank. Not only did I loose these fish that were years old, but I had just bought a tank as well. This soaping happend another 2 times after with some feeders. Now I have my tank LOCKED upstairs.(eek upstairs) Oh and btw...it was 8k to fix the beam from water damage. talk bout a sad story
