Hello; This link is a follow up of an incident. Struck a chord with me because of the three dogs. Sadly, in the linked case a child was killed, and another is in a hospital from a mauling. In my case i was very lucky as I did not get bitten.
The linked story is very sad as it appears the dog owner did not try to help the children. Rather he got his dogs and left the scene. Read the story. I saw the first report days ago.
In my case I was riding my bicycle on the shoulder of a highway near my home. A man had moved into a place just off the highway. Maybe 75 feet off the road. The grade was uphill so when his three boxers spotted me I knew I could not outrun them. I got off my bike and put the bike between me and the closest dog running at me. The other two a distance away. I did get my weapon out but knew the odds were against me stopping all three with seven rounds.
The lucky thing was the dogs were well trained and the man was able to call them back. He even apologized to me for the incident. Never saw the dogs or the man again so he may have moved on to somewhere else. He likely did not know the shoulder of that stretch of road was a popular bike riding place.
Hello; no dogs in this story. The crux of this story is something i have observed many times and been a victim of a few times. That being when younger children damage something in particular and to a lesser degree use private property. No big deal if the parents stand up and make things right, but as in the story parents often refuse.
I did not have a Ferrari but did get my 1991 Nissan Sentra RE-R rocked by some kids. Parents refused to pay so we wound up in juvie court. Parents wound up paying for the dents.
The notion as i have come to understand it goes something like kids will be kids so let it go. I do get the kids may not have criminal intent or may not understand the potential for damage. But damage is damage.
A loosely related but related thing I discovered as a public-school teacher. That is when breaking up a fight between students one or more of them will get a punch or two into the teacher. Happened to me until i learned to look for such. One teacher wound up with a broken leg breaking up a fight. One trick I learned was to not be super-fast into the middle of a fight. Take a second as you approach to evaluate. If one kid is beating the other, then grab the dominate one. The loser was usually already to quit. Often enough both are ready to quit.

I cross post my stuff across all these different forums, in the off-topic sections, normally.
I might reword things a little bit or make other concessions to the current context of that place, but mostly it’s just cut and paste.
No subject that I post ever takes off on more than three of those forums. It’s rare that it doesn’t get responses to at least one however.
I know, it’s not very sophisticated. It’s a shotgun approach to social interaction with a modest success record.
It’s also a shotgun approach to preserving my photographs and certain records online, in multiple places, so they don’t disappear all at once.
Hello; This dog story made me wonder about people. Then I realized I have met such folks often in my life. That the mother was killed by the son's dog is a tragedy in the real sense. That it was an expected outcome based on a prior attack is the story. Falls into what were the son & mom thinking category.
The mom had already been attacked & put in a hospital from the prior attack.
The son winds up in jail and asks his 83-year-old mom to take in the dog. What was he thinking? The mom had to know the dog was a danger. What was she thinking?
I know a man who was married to the sister of my second wife. His son had an aggressive dog. The son had to leave but could not take the dog. He asked the dad to keep it. I met the man at Kroger's. Talked about a visit. He warned me to not just show up. Give him a call so he can lock up the dog. I did not visit.
