I have ran into a problem with zavlar or liquid rubber that i am using for my large ray tank.

Silicone is not compatible with liquid rubber.i was talking to the guy who sold me the zavlar and he said to use Butyl caulk.

Does any body know what type of buytl is fish safe.I have used buytl alot and cannot find info on what is safe for fish or not.all of my experience with butyl is at work sealing glass windows and steel flashings.

please help me out and list any fish safe butyl caulking products that you know of

thanks

I also looked at the Butyl could only find one version at local Co-op hardware it was for gutters and was pretty stringy stuff.

If you want to go into uncharted territory, with a product no one appears to have used before on these builds, I used Eternabond Double Stick gasket/tape to attach plexiglass window in my tank build.

Bought it a HomeHardware. There is a primer that you can get (couldn't obtain it locally or from HomeHardware so ordered from Bestsuppy out of Pheonix as well as rubber and metal roller tools) (research advise was to use primer even if you don't think it is needed) Applied primer to tank LR and Plexiglass window let dry for 25 minutes, removed one side of covering from tape and attached to LR coated tank. Rolled the heck out of it, you will here some popping thats the binding agent activating. Removed other side of tape covering and dropped window on top. Used rubber roller to press down on tape through window. Rigged up some bar clamps and pieces of wood to apply pressure down over night and a assortment of objects for wieghts as well. Next day applied LR around outside edges of window, dried it in sun shine. Applied another version of Eternabond that has cloth on one side around edge of window, rolled and painted it with LR a couple of times, drying it in sun shine between coats. Also used this cloth covered version in all corners of tank as well, it soaks the LR up well. I would be shocked if window moved or leaked.
But I'm shocked that I've almost completed a 300G aquarium as well.

Other than the rolling portion of installation, very easy to use.
