I bought these for filtration in my HOB cause I got sick of buying the filter. They said NOWHERE on the package that there was any chemicals in it and these were the closest thing my Dollar General had to the plastic scrubbers. There Dawn mesh scrubbers with a sponge in the center. Has anyone used these? Will they harm my fish because either im paranoid or its messing with my tank. Water perams are good and all just my fish are all grouping together sense I put these in and just being kinda wierd... Should I take them out and BOIL them for a while to be safe? Any one with experiences with these please let me know. Again nothing on the package stated anything about soap in them or anything.

I don't know what cheap POS's you are buying, but spend the money and buy a decent filter, it should last you for many years.
if you mean you're tired of buying new poly filter pads, neither these or the nylon scrubbies are a equivalent replacement. nylon scrubbies are for biological filtration. you shouldn't be replacing your biological filtration, defeats the purpose.
even with good biological filtration, you will probably still want particulate filtration, running without it usually results in cloudy water. for that you need something with a small pore size, nothing like this will give you that.
if you rinse them and there's no soap and the water stays clear, these are probably ok, but whenever you try something new, you take a chance. I'd be surprised if anyone has ever tried these, the sponge inside will most certainly not be a good type for a filter.

If you want to replace filter pads with less expensive alternative ...go with marineland blue/white bonded and reuse it till it wears out

If there's no suds in your tank than there's obviously no soap. But eventually the sponge part will be overly clogged. Get a pair of scissors and cut out and discard the sponge. You will then be left with pot scrubby bio media that should never be changed, and never be cleaned all at once. It may not be enough bio media, but your water perameters will dictate when it's time to add more scrubbies, or better media.

For the mechanical, what I use in my HOB for the hospital tank is this stuff http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004JHD7B4

It comes in a nice big sheet so you can cut to proper sized sheets. It also comes in different particle sizes (i.e. 25 micron, 50 micron, etc.) but this will depend on how often you plan to replace each sheet. It can be reused several times, just throw it in the washing machine with a small amount of bleach.

If you have a big craft store near you, you could buy a bag of poly fill pillow stuffing on the cheap. That would also work for mechanical.
