Don't really know if the attachments of my pictures work so let me know if they don't.

My friend let me use his 10 gallon with filter but I don't really have much space in my room. I found a little space on top of one of my little wooden cabinets but after filling some of it up I'm a little worried if that's a safe place to put it. I do get earthquakes here every once in a long while and it is above my mattress. I'm just wondering if you guys think that place will work as a permanent place for that tank or if i should try to find another spot for it. (only other place i can think of is on top of my dresser). I can also tell that it isn't completely level either.

Another question I had is I already filled the tank up with four gallons of distilled water and its been sitting for a while. I noticed a bunch of tiny bubbles all around the tank lined up rather evenly. I'm just wondering if the tiny bubbles everywhere are normal.

I attached my pictures, if your having trouble seeing them let me know. two of the pictures (first and last) are of the tanks front and side to show where its resting. sorry about the one picture being flip side. the middle two are pictures i tried to get of the bubbles.

thanks for any help.

Why don't you buy a good piece of wood the length of the tank and put under it. it is okay the way it is now as long as the dresser does not rock.

I'm really only worried about the rocking if there's an earthquake, it's not in a place where i see myself bumping into it or anything. My only other option is my dresser which I attached a picture of. The only thing about the dresser is I would be having to use it a lot while the tank is on it.

Which do you guys think would be better, just putting it on top of the dresser or putting a piece of wood on top of the drawers and under the tank where it is now. (also how thick should the wood be, like what kind of wood).

hiya personaly i wold not recomend siting the tank in such a scary platform. dressers and cabinets are not made to hold such weight on top it may hold but any slight movement to one side or the other will put a stress on the flimsy joints and fail esp if rocked about in a tremmor/quake, do not put your fish or your belongings at risk of damage as i assure you it will fail. place it upon the floor till you can make something sutable or purchasing a propper frame. i am a woodworker i know its not the best of things to take weight as only made to take cloths and small goods. ;-)

Looks like your a Newbie So Welcome to MFK!

I would not put that tank on the Dresser... if it is close to your bed where it could fall on you (someone) while you are sleeping. Otherwise its not the best option but I assume it would do. I would def try and rock the Cabinet without the tank to feel better about the stability and make a game time decision then.

Your other option is the floor and the Hang on Back (HOB) filter you have will still work just fine.

As for bubbles, usually its a sign on new tank or water changes... I encourage bubbles in tanks for more aeration (just personal preference).

Mind me asking what the tank will be stocked with :D??

Hello; When I first started keeping fish in the dark ages, i did not have the funds for a tank and a stand. my mother allowed me to put my first small tank on a piece of wooden furniture. The wood was often wet and some damage was done to the furniture. The worst damage was from the moisture that got under the tank and could not be wiped up. I still have that table and it still has the damage .

thanks for the help guys, i might hit up a few stores and see if i can find a small tank stand. probably be better for me in the long run anyway.

I was thinking of making it a freshwater tank, putting in some freshwater plants and maybe giving it a bit of a forest feel. as for fish, i was thinking just a few small fish that might resemble forest animals. something along the lines of kuhli loaches for snakes (brown and green ones look nice), dusky panthers for...well... black panthers and some tiny colorful fish for birds. I've heard those are all ten gallon suitable (even though if things go well i may try to upgrade to a 20 gallon to make sure i can fit all the animals in comfortably). any more suggestions on fish resembling forest animals is welcome by the way, more fish to pick and choose from the better.

I do have experience with larger marine aquariums but im just new to the smaller household stuff as well as anything freshwater so you guys will probably be seeing more of me around asking for help here and there.

nice sword collection are they real hand forged swords with blades or just display pieces? hard to see the details. i got a few japanese hand forged swords myself.

you can buy used stand for cheaper or just make your own; its cheaper. try posting a wtb thread on the market here.

just show pieces i picked up here and there, I keep wanting to save up money for a real one but I find new and innovative ways to blow it all away before I can get anywhere near the price I want to be at. As for the stand, if I don't find any good, cheap ones at the stores I think i'll end up going to the thread, I just know a few places here and there that I've made friends with who might be able to get me some good deals.
