I tried doing a search for this thread but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I have smooth gravel in my tank but I've read that it can give the stingrays sores and make it hard for them to find food, is this correct?

If I change to a sand substate what are the types of sand safe for a stingray? I'm looking for something not too costly but that won't cut her like silicone based sands do?

So what do I ask for and what kind of places would carry it? (I live in Ontario)

You might call around to your gravel company stores and try to find a 'fine smooth gravel'.. 'A small grain size' might be the terminology you would use.

I use sand as well, but usually only for juvenile rays.. Bare-bottom is a thousand fold easier for cleanliness..
