i recently bought a used tank, it was originally a saltwater setup but i want to do freshwater. the tank came with everything, including sand (the guy sed it was live). is this sand safe for a freshwater setup?

it's going to release a little calcium into the water as it's probably aragonite.
if it's an afircan tank then you're sweet.
the sand has lil critters living in it so when you add it to the tank really vacuum it out well.

are these critters really visible or do i need a keen eye. and would they still be alive? im guessin the tank wasnt in use for a few weeks no water or anythin. the guy gave it to me in buckets. i didnt see anythin movin around when i cleand it.
