Saw a post awhile ago saying they had a dovii that they grew out with other fish and they got along fine so I tried it now my 4 inch dovii creating havoc so much for that

Not all that surprizing. The dynamic of every tank is unique and what works for one is often disaterious for another. Dovii reach a point when the switch flips and an the shy mellow guy turns into a terror, it's usually game over for who ever it sets it sights on. Dovii by and large are not the best candadate for a community setting.

Wreaked havoc as in killed all of your fish?

They probably introduced all of the fish at the same time, instead of throwing the dovii in with other fish and vice versa.

Dovii was the last one introduced and smallest but he the second biggest.. He killed a flower horn yesterday he getting worst everyday no other tank to put him either so I'm all messed up right now

spot on.

It totally depends on the individual fish, I have a 210 gallon cichlid tank with a vieja synspilum, green terror, and paratilapia polleni, all of which are full grown and could potentially be aggressive but the meanest fish in my tank is a heros notatus severum that just has a chip on its shoulder for some reason lol.
however I had to try out different fish for quite a while before I found some that got along well with each other.
and of course some fish are more likely to be jerks then others, the odds of getting a chill jack dempsey are much better then the odds of getting a chill dovi or red devil.
It can still happen but you may be looking for a very long time and may lose a lot of fish in the process.

That sucks man. My little male is 4" now and hasn't shown any aggression towards his tankmates. Just like you, I added him last to a tank that already had a pecking order and he was the smallest. He is quickly catching up with everybody in size. He attacks food like a beast.

My big dovii is alone now and has a body count easily most aggressive fish I owned unfair to put him with other fish that's why I got the little guy to try that theory failing miserably though
