I was wondering if it is a good idea to put a 5" male fossochromis rostratus w/ two 4" Frontosas (Kigoma and Mpimbwe) in a 72 gallon. I am thinking about it but am concerned with how big they get and I don't know about their temperment. Any advice would be great...thanks!

I have fossies. The most peaceful fish in my tank. The male is just over 10"-11" and needs all of the 210 gallon tank I keep him in. Thinking 72G might be a bits small for one after a few months.

I have a pair in a 150 with a Front among others. Works out great unless they are breeding then he gets a bit plucky but still not enough to be dangerous.

They should be fine. I had a bunch of haps in with my frontosa before my tank cracked. They actually seemed to prefer the company.

Yes, although a bigger tank would be preferred...I grew out a rostratus and found it to be rather docile

I had two Fossies with four Fronts in a 150G tank. I ended up pulling the Fronts out as they were not getting enough food. The Fossies are fast swimmers/eaters; I found myself way over feeding just so the Fronts would get some food.

The Fronts are now eating well in a 125G tank with laid back Haps and a Severum.
