Hello guys. Im getting tired of sand/gravel. Its time to go painted bare bottom for easier maintenance.

Should i just net all the sand out w/ my fish in the tank
or

take all the fish out, take all the sand out. Do a 50% water change and dump the fish in. ?

I did that a couple years ago on my African tank. Siphon into a bucket, used an old white castle cup to skim the water out of the buckets back into the tank.

you could syphon it out or use a really fine net and just scoop it out. when i did in mine i just pushed all the saned to one side and put a divider up and scooped out the sand with the net. scooping it out makes it a little easier cause that way you dont have to empty water from a bucket full of sand.

I just finished removing about 99% of the sand. What a pain in the ass it was removing like the last remainder of the sand.

Siphoning didnt work for me caz it was powerful enough and too much water came out than sand itself. I just netted everything out. My water was super cloudy. Did a 50% water change. Gona do another water change in two days.
