Safest size for upstairs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There is a lot of other info that comes into play like over all tank weight, how your house was made and when. Like for example I have concrete floors and walls so I can put up to a 200+ gallon on my second floor and not have to worry one bit. That beings said I say stay on the safe side and stay small 15-55 gallons.

1-gal Nano cube, if they make it in such size.

1 gal nano lol very funny. well its not a really ole house maybe 40 years old its a large house turned into two flats. I currently have a 40 gal. Bit I wanna go up to a 55 when I move in so my jag has a bigger home. If not ill just keep the 40 n maybe get some afro cichlids. How would I find out the max load the floor can carry. Or also could I maybe use the wall for support to. Eg screw the frame to the wall somehow.

Well chances are if it could hold a 40 a 55 wouldn't be much more

I keep a 100 on my second floor it's should be fine. If you are worried about it I would get a stud finder and locate them and put the tank perpendicular to them(spreading the weight among the beams)

This.. I've kept a 75 w/out issue at our old apartment this way... depends on a lot of things..but if you can keep large furniture ect w/out issue "generally" a 75 or 125 should be fine. but really depends on how sound the structure is. put it on an outter wall or load bearing wall ect as well..

also depends.. are you renting or owning? If renting just be upfront and ask. if owning you should be able to get your hands on the blue-prints and find out.

cool renting so ill check it out with landlord. it has a small fireplace so i was gonna have it covering that. shame it aint ground floor lol be a 210 going in

I read somewhere that a 125 will be fine for the majority of buildings...180 is pushing it in some buildings. With that said, I kept a 180 on the 10th floor in a crappy old st Louis mo apartment lol.
