Well I just made a mistake and gone against the advice lol!! I bought a pair of sajica yesterday - they were soo cute, until today! They have gone into breeding mode already and the female is a little spitfire, aggressively attacking my 5" severum, she is only about 3" at the most! The male is however pretty docile. So I am going to separate her tomorrow and take her to my nearest LFS. Unfortunately I dont have another tank she can go in at the moment so I will have to hope that all hell doesnt break loose over the course of this evening and tomorrow. I am worried about her inflicting harm on my very expensive rotkeil and EBJD. Do you think it will be OK overnight? The severum is holding its own but is not as quick as the sajica.

how big is the tank? as long as the tank is big enough and with hiding spots for the others to get away if they need to it should be fine, is she just defending her area when they come close or is she actually going to them to fight when they are on other side of tank?

I have a 92G corner tank, lots of territories set up, but the Sajica female wanted all of them!

I took her to my LFS yesterday. When I got home from work she was in a right mess from having a go at the severum too much and was not fairing well; it didnt deter her though, she wanted to fight til the death so I thought it best all round to separate her from the tank. The male is a lot more docile though does try and have a dig at the severum now and again but nothing major. All they do is face off to each other, go really dark and their eyes go really bright and then that is that! Isnt it funny that the smallest fish wants to have a go at the largest fish and not take any notice of anything else!

haha wow thats crazy i wouldnt think they would show that kind of aggression in that big of a tank, maybe if you really want to breed them try a different female and see if you can get one that is more mellow seems like you hit the jackpot with the male though :)
