Just thought I'd post a picture of a little fish I enjoy keeping right now. As with all cryptoheroes, excellent parents. I pulled the first spawn, left the second to fend for themselves, and the pair had a third spawn while still protecting the second. Shame on me, I think I only did one 50% water change that month. Obviously a very demanding species.

Nice looking fish. I don't know with that species what triggers there spawning, but with some fish deteriorating water conditions can trigger spawning, not when they are enjoying there water conditions.

Either way congrats on the young.

The male is a pretty impressive fish, but I'm still hoping he turns out like the male I seen on Jeff Rapps site.

Love these guys and yours are really nice. Where did you get their breeding cave?
The caves came from Ken's Fish. I think they were less than $10 too, not bad for a pretty large cave. I got a few of these and a few of the mud huts, both are great.

Here is the second batch of fry just around a month old.

Side note... anyone using these Marina holding and breeding boxes? I love them. I put about 50 fry in there and leave them til they are about .375" long. Saves me the trouble of having multiple 5 gallon tanks to clean

Nice Fish!
I use the same setup for my fry. I love those boxes. Congratz on the great spawns. These are my favorite cichlid, closely followed by C. Myrnae.
