Hi all,

So about a month ago my gf basically convinced me to get a young juvenile sajica, which I'll admit looks stunning; but what with house renovations etc, in the past few months a lot of my tanks have been broken down and/or swapped around and sold.

The sajica in question is in my 15g hospital tank, mainly to keep a suitable bacterial colony for seeding filters, but ultimately I'd like to break even this tank down too.

The dilemma is as follows, I was (sigh) trying to get away from cichlids, hoping to just do my 90g with a school of cardinals, and some cherry shrimp; but I'll hear no end of it unless the sajica goes into the 90, so has anyone tried them with cardinals?

I know any cherries I put in will get decimated unless planting is heavy, but I could deal with that if I thought the saj and cardinals would mesh.

Anyway, I guess I don't have to worry right now, she's about 1.5 inches; not yet the stocky 5-6 inch monsters I sometimes see pics of :)

This pair killed anything I tried house with them, swordtails, 2 other sajica, and they were not killed to be eaten, although some were eventually eaten.
Need I say more?

thanks for your brutal honesty Duanes lol, argg :D

I had a solo male (no female) and he was very docile, but his tankmates were all at least as large as him, none were snack size. If you're ok with losing the shrimp it could work, but I'd think keeping fish where one could be eaten by the other is tempting fate.

Truer words were never spoken lol.

The male in my pic, was at least 4" tall, and as you can see, very bulky. He was fairly inept at being a predator, but if the opportunity arose for an easy meal, he would take it, whether a small unsuspecting fish, shrimp, or worm. And I assume because the two in the pic were a mated pair, why he would not tolerate any other cichlid in the tank

damn, that's pretty impressive height! I've already seen the small female I have, take umbrage with my plec and cories, so she may not be the calmest :(

Hahahahaha @ trying to get away from cichlids... i feel you're pain
