I know a bunch of baby SAL came in this year about the size of sperm. I got 2 that I am feeding live black worms and can barely tell any growth. They are in a breeder net with plastic plants in it. What kind of care are others giving theirs and what are you feeding? How are they growing?

I feed mine live black worms and live blood worms. No frozen foods. I also do a 3-4 days water change 40%. Temp around 82-83F. I also place floating plants as well as sand. The sand helps to culture the black worms so the lungfish can just eat them whenever. I usually start with a 40g tank whenever I grow any lungfish. When they hit 5-6" I start introducing hikarin cichlid gold sinking and at 10-12" I start introducing hiraki algae wafers and other veggie matter. With power feeding and constant water change with warmer water. I grew my SAL from 2.5" to 12" in 3 months and 20" in 6 month. 25" in a year.

Thanks King. I have sand in the bottom of the breeder net and see the worms poking up. Water gets changed weekly, but the basket is in a lightly stocked 150 with current going near it. I wash the basket when the water is changed. It looks like I am doing things pretty much as you.

So just checked 3/19, I posted a picture of my 3 inch SAL (which you referred to as a night crawler by the way ;)) He is now about double in length and more then doubled in thickness. Also has much nicer gold markings. Very veracious eater.

Initially he was in a breeder box but since upgraded him to a 10g with a Betta and golden vampire pleco. He has been eating pellets from day one. Mostly nls community which is tiny and now other small or broken up pellets. He occasionally gets some frozen stuff. Every time he takes a dump I am impressed.
