SAL+rays?

anyone done or doing this combo?...as my other thread states about me thinking of selling my pbass and bichirs for rays...i almost forgot that i have a SAL and fire eel growing out for the tank aswell...:grinno:...i need more tanks!!!!...

SAL+rays whos done it? how was it?

SAL= south american lungfish

i let is 'soak' for 12hrs and now we are going on 15hrs...
 
Now, I did speak to someone who had kept a SAL (South American Lungfish) with Rays but I cannot remember who it was or the outcome but it has been done before.
 
Theres one at my work 26" and its pretty laid back, i fancyed it for my tank but its pretty dumb and would just get mobbed and chewed by my rays so i passed. Also if they did deside to have a go at rays they would do some real damage. Ide say it could work depending on the nature of both the rays and lungfish, just make sure your ready to take it out at the first sighn of problem.
 
This thread should have been started with by you telling us how big your lungfish is and how big your tank is. Also you need to tell us the temperment of your lung. I would buy the rays at atleast 12" if you lungfish is large. If your lungfish is say under 10" don't try it plz. I would buy the rays but them in another tank and watch their behavior to see if they are aggressive or not. I do know someone that had this combo once. The person had a 20" lung with 12-15" rays. The lung with it's powerfuk bite killed one of the ray then about a week later the large ray killed the lung.....

my lung is growing out right now and it is about 8"+...it is a pushover...it eats from my hand and when it is floating around on the surface if my black aro bites it is doesn't even react till the second bite then it just swims down to the bottom...my tank is a 180gal for now...i am thinking of getting hystrix...the lung is in a diff tank then the rays would be to start...of lungfish the SALs are the least agressive...i geuss my concern is if the rays would eat it or not...i wouldn't mix them till the lung was in the 20" range...
