SAL spotting/aging?

Just wondering, do SALs yellow spotting fade as they grow?

John has some on aquabid and their yellow spotting looks incredible, but I'm wondering if they'd maintain that through life/growth. Debating taking the plunge...

Yes, only juvis have the spotting.

The spots on mine were gone after it hit the 12" mark. Now it's a dark gray at 15".

Hmmm that's too bad. Guess that explains why I don't see more of them around. Was gonna say, had no idea any lungfish could look so bright and pretty, why don't more people keep them?

Still debating it but that kind of makes me a little less hype.

Yeah, they look amazing at the size and age, but it fades.

I know what you mean. Even if it stayed the jet black color without the spots it'd look better than the gray. I still like mine though.
