Im having problems with my 6" SAL and my aqua clear 500s, theyre to powerful, he cant sit still on the bottom, hes always being blown around. I have the problem fixed temporarly but i need a more long term solution. I have an old 55g that im not usuing, i know it wont hold him for life or anything, but i need to know what i can use for a filter. At this point im about ready to buy an air pump and sponge filters but i figured id see if any one has any better suggestions.

lung fish are called that for a reason right? i got a 6inch Black lung with 2 filters over it, i had the same problem. since it can breath direct air why don't you put foalting objects at the top like fake plants or a smalll log. i find that mines like to be at the top of the water anyways instead of the bottom.

The Filter situation you mention ShawnTraviss, in Honesty should be fine. Some lungfish are found in rivers and streams when it comes to their natural environment. For all of my "LungFish Tanks" I always give a few inches at the top to breath when it comes to the water level. This allows the filters to "Bubble" the water and provide a strong current to filter out the water, since lungfish can grow-big and so can there $hit. The constant movement of the lungfish due to current can be solved by adding PVC Pipes and other aquarium items that allow the lungfish to hide/rest without the effort of "Staying in Place". This also gives more mental freedom to your LungFish to discovering "New Places to Hide".

I hope this helps, PM if you have anymore questions or concerns you may have. For the long term, the filters should/will be fine. Good Current, Water Quality and weekly water changes will make a great living environment for your LungFish.

If the SAL gets sucked by the intake, he must be small. Then I change the filter set-up till he gets bigger.

I have canister filters with the return spray bar turned back so the water hits the back of the tank and gently flows down, almost no current
