By the Beach!
After reading about different peoples SALs I noticed that some were aggressive and others peaceful. My question is is there a certain size when they become more aggressive or are they aggressive from a baby? Also do the different sexes have different temperments? And if so how do you sex your SAL...or is it even possible? Thanks!!!

most of them are peaceful

listen to King El he has 39" SAL

Ok I guess I should rephrase my question. Besides SALs not liking there own kind, does anyone have a SAL that is aggressive towards other fish? And if so were they aggressive from a baby or did they become aggressive as they got older (ie. certain size/age)? The main reason I ask is I'm just being a worry wart and trying to figure out if my little guy might become aggressive cuz right now he is super peaceful... by this I mean he used to cuddle with a kuhli loach!!! (i have since removed the loach since it was snack size) Thanks!

Mine got aggressive at 31" but I'm not sure if my other SAL will become aggressive when it hit 30"+ as it's only 28" long and getting along fine with my 15" aussie lungfish. Even though my 39" SAL and very aggressive it won't even bother small fish that are 5" or smaller. But just be careful as they can be unpredictable sometimes.

Thanks man!!! I sure I wont have any problems since mine is a wimp and wont even eat ghost shrimp!!! But I will look out once he gets some size to him!

Mine is around 2 feet and a huge wimp. As far as sexing I'm not sure. I've heard the females are a bit fatter, but that's hard to judge unless you have two side by side or have seen a great number of them before. The males get filamentous extensions on their pelvic fins when breeding and guarding their eggs, but you're unlikely to see that in the aquarium setting.
