Has anybody given a salamander to there cichlids to eat ? Do fish even eat salamanders?
In the wild Bass do eat newts and salamanders. I'd be wary though.

I wouldnt recommend it unless you really know what species of salamander you are feeding.

Dont some of them secrete toxins?

Is it a salamander or a newt? If it is a brightly colored newt, I would imagine most fish or other predators would leave it alone due to its warning colors. It may also be secreting a toxin into the water as a defensive mechanism - that may be why it is still alive.

why risk it. stick with what your feeding. dont see the point in risking it. surely feeding one extra thing isnt worth risking your stock. no doubt they already have a very good diet so adding this one thing wont make much of a difference.

Many salamanders and newts are toxic, some not immediately lethal, but secrete a warning taste 1st, if ignored and still eaten, the predator could then later die.
