Salanity of Water

Hi

I have a marine tank for 8 years now, and have always kept the salinity to 30PPT and specific gravity to 1.023 at 25c.

I have seen on the Fluval site that the salinity they recommend is 34.9 and the SG 1.026

Any ideas out there, have i been doing it wrong all these years, I have clowns that continue to breed

I think you're close enough. I've always seen 1.023-1.025. I'd think you'd want to focus on keeping it stable vs trying to change it.
I'm a freshwater guy, so you might want to disregard everything I say.

doesn't really matter for those numbers, the range is fine. for most marine fish anywhere from 1.018 to 1.025 is fine.


but stability is important.

I used to keep mine at 1.020.

reef tanks tend to be on the higher side for the corals.
