Salivini Rio Chacamax

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have 2 salvini juvies with 4 firemouth juvies in a 75. So far so good. I used to have salvini in with an oscar. The salvini would nip a bit and the oscar would chase it but nothing serious.

+1 what Dan said. not much.
A very aggressive fish in my experience.

Thorichthys won't stand a chance if a salvini turns aggressive.

It started out as a temporary set up, but has been that way for about 3 months. I was very surprised, the sals seem to completely ignore the fm. Could change today for all I know.I have other places to put the fm, but of course now I am curious to see how long the combo will work.

You might get lucky, cichlids do break the mould sometimes.
I would be on your guard if the salvini start to breed.
Thorichthys have very weak easily dislocated jaws and can come off badly against other cichlids when lip locking starts.

I thought I had a male and a female, but now I think it's two females. If any fish pair off they get the tank. I have always kept breeding pairs separate and generally keep cichlids solo.
