Anyone ever feed their fish Salmon eggs? You know the kind people go fishing with. Is there anything bad about feeding to your fish? How nutritious is it?

I kinda wanna try it because I know fish love eggs. But I dont know much about Salmon eggs, how nutritious they are and if they are even good to feed to aquarium fish. Would I just buy the salmon eggs that people go fishing with?

don't the fishing ones have some type of chemical enhancement to attract the fish or something i don't think i would feed my fish eggs for fishing

Yeah, thats a concern. Im just seeing what others have to say. If thats the case, then what other alternatives do I have? Is there a way to obtain some eggs, even if its other fish eggs to feed my fish?

I wouldn't use the bait eggs because those are loaded with preservatives and scent enhancing chemicals. A pricey way to obtain eggs would be to buy sushi grade eggs. This would work for salmon eggs, but I believe the smaller orange ones used as a garnish on the outside of rolls might be salted. The cheapest way to obtain eggs is by fishing or buying freshly caught fish. You get a meal of it, and so do your fish. Here the concern is parasites or contaminants though.

I suppose the easiest way to feed your fish eggs would be to breed some cichlids and then take the surface with the eggs and take them off, or just put it in the tank with fish you want to feed.

i caught 15 reds(sockeye salmon) this summer and smoked them all. next year ima save their eggs and sell them haha. no preservatives in the kenai river
