Ok so today i cut up about a pound of salmon meat, put some in the plastic trays you get when u by frozen food for fish...and then i filled a whole ice cube tray with the rest and put it all in the freezer....i was wondering if salmon is good for my fish because my channa bleheri seem to go crazy for it...

PLEASE HELP ME...I CAN'T SEE WHY IT WOULD BE BAD FOR THEM...I JUST WANNA KNOW IF ANYONE HAS TRIED IT?????????????

Havn't tried it.... ANY PICS OF THE TANK?

Feeding them chunks of fish is quite good for them. But they do make the water REALLY dirty. It makes your water have nasty 'film' to the top of it. I use to feed my piranha's all types of meat and i had a protein skimmer to get rid of all the gunk. I have one on my red lines tanks coz he eats all of oily foods.

Fish meat is good for the SH, but if you don't want to make a mess in your tank buy the commercial frozen cocktail shrimps...they are much cheaper than salmon, you chop them up a bit depending on the size of your SH, and place them in ice cube trays. I do this, all of my fish with no exception (including my pleurophtlama SH's and Arowana) really enjoy the shrimp meat...with no mess at all.

Salmon and trout are really oily and can be a problem for the filter to handle, fish take longer to digest it and if they regurgitate it you have a problem. Other fish meat is fine.

I occasionally feed my oscar salmon,he really likes it.As with any food it shouldnt be a straight diet of that, once a week for each type is what I generally do.I only put in pieces he can easily swallow whole. With any fish the more variety you can get him to eat the better
