you one lucky SOB to live in native steelhead and salmon territory. But I make due with our hatchery steelies and kings over here at the great lakes. The steelhead are just starting to run this week I tied a bunch of spawn bags tonight for tomorrow so I should be ready.

Yeah they just did a emergency closure on the rivers for steelhead due to low returning numbers until june which is ok,So now its time for sturgen in the river and king in the Bay and of course a early spawn of both smallies and largemouth this yr due to "elnio" or how ever you spell that damn thing that really effects fishing,Love the largie in your tank,I would like to do a native tank as well,Check out some of my pic of what I keep & the one I catch in my album,

Great Lakes has good steelhead fishin'. We do some down rigging frequently.

Yup I use downriggers in the Puget Sound around Seattle area with flasher and squid or fresh cut plug herring, And in the rivers I pull plug for steelhead, and of course egg sacks work for everything in the river

Its devastating that the numbers are that low =(

That is a big humpback. Nice catches.

The river that runs by my place is the main river, it come up from the bay and split up to three different rivers and many streams,They estimated a total of 6,500 winter run steelhead, up the main river this year and it was not even close, So bad that when I would float my normal 5mile section of river most the time nobody on the river, not even a guide, which is nice but starts to make you think??? No wonder why they call steelhead a fish of a thousand casts:grinyes: Usually we would hit a least a fish a day, now it like once a week, And I put a lot of time in fishing the crap out of my honey holes. The Game Dept here is just retarded they just shoot them self in the foot and wonder why it happens every year:screwy:
