Salmon ?

So I have had my pair of w c of hystrix for 10 months now.
They only eat live earthworms or smelt. They refuse everything else, and as much as I tried pellets (soaking in chopped worms etc), they refused that too.

A few days ago my mrs was cooking some fresh salmon and I tried a small offcut on my Rays, and they took it!
The salmon though seems quite oily.

Does anyone feed their Rays salmon?
Is it ok for them health wise?

I have fed my rays salmon every now and then but salmon is super fatty and does create quite a mess. My rays eat just about anything I throw at them... try shrimp and squid
 
Had my rays on salmon before - pure salmon diet. It became too expensive and they are eating better than me. I slowly introduce pellets, prawns, marinara mix and basa pellets. I dont give them salmon anymore as it leaves an oil film on the water.
 
The worms are costing me a fortune too :rolleyes:

But at least I will feed the salmon now and then as an alternative.

Ideally I want them to take pellets, but they are just refusing.
 
I hate how messy salmon is. My fishes seem to prefer a leaner fish as treats anyways. Pellets is the healthiest. Like Hendre said. Starve em out and do not give them any treats for a few months after they take to pellets!
 
My fish are w c.
They started eating within a day or two of me getting them.
I was relucctant at the time to starve them as they had settled in so quickly.
Didn't (and still don't want to) trigger a hunger strike.
