Salt for FIsh Hemorrhoids?

A buddy of mine saw my fish and suggest I bump up the temperature and add salt to my tank. My tank is already warm/lukewarm considering its summer and I guess I will be adding salt. He suggested getting the Morton salt that you can get in blue big bags at Home Depot.

Will salt and higher temp really fix the problem?

I would imagine your fish have worms and not haemorrhoids. Are you seeing white/pinkish strings coming from the fish anus? Salt and raising the temperature will do your fish no good. What your fish need is an anthelmintic (de-wormer). Don't know what's available in the Phillipines but I would think that you can get flubendazol (flubenol) or praziquantel.

Praziquantel can be obtained with vets. It is sometimes labeled as Droncit for dog deworming but we have to know first exactly what the issue is before suggesting meds. Other option is levamisole hydrochloride.

With regards to water parameters, I don't even know. I haven't tested my water parameters in almost 3 years. I will take a photo later and send it to you.

Its not really that big to be considered a prolapse. The photos in the other hemorrhoid/prolapse threads I have seen are gigantic compared to my aro's. I think the term hemorrhoid fits it best. It has small protruding pinkish flesh coming out of the fish's anus.

No strings at all is coming out of the fish's anus.

Market shrimp and silver sides. I don't think its gonna eat anything for the next two weeks though 'coz its either taking pellets of he's gonna look like a bulemic fish.

So I used Morton White Crystal Water Softener Salt. Will that harm my fish in any way?
