salt for fresh water?

Dang! That's more than the amount needed to treat freshwater ich :-O
My advice is never to use salt for freshwater fish (unless used as Ich treatment). There's just no need and the fish don't appreciate it.
I'm sure THAT will be argued with....but oh well. These are freshwater fish, not brackish or saltwater fish.

sounds good, i did buy it just in case ich comes about in the future. I have seen posts of people using it when they change the water
1 ppm will keep some diseases and parasites at bay and wont stress out fish. all depends on what you have
