Does salt effect PH?

Im talking about when people add salt to their freshwater tanks, just for the sake of adding it, not for treatment or to get brackish water.

Salt does not effect pH. Why would you add it for no particular reason?

Howdy,

No, regular table salt does not alter the pH. Use non-iodine salt. But you should have a good reason to use it. Some livebearers like it.
