Salt supplies in fresh system

My friend had a 30 g salt tank and he had a power head... He gave ot to me. It has like the purple stuff n the salt residue on it... I scraped a lot of it off but its going into a 220g so i dont think it will be a problem i wouldnt think... Its just a lil salt it should be helpfull to the fish right?

You could try soaking it in a vinegar and water solution overnight. The coraline algae should come right off.
