the 225 is days away from being started cycling. i just have a few concerns .. it was a used tank, was originally saltwater but im converting it to freshwater. The tank was extremely dirty when i got it so i spent a few hours doing a good clean with just water .. got the glass almost absolutly perfect. probably as good as i will get it. but all the white spots that were caked on to the glass are also on the overflows .. i managed to scrape it off most of the glass with some sort of brush .. it worked. on the overflows (plastic) imk finding it harder to remove. the main piece of the overflow is quickly removable so i can take those off the overflow and clean them still however ive already added teh sand and deco stuff (driftwood etc) so the rest of the overflows will be difficult im thinking. those parts are fine but the parts i tried to clean yesterday didnt clean as well as the rest of the overflow and i dont know why. they seem to be a lighter black and everything still. what do you guys reccomend to clean these with to remove the rest of the white spots? (I dont have any bleach on hand). and last but not least .. any other concerns i should be worried about with the tank conversion?

i had a 130 that was salt .. the guy tore it down and 3 days later i had my oscars in it ..

cleaned with water and set it up .. it still had some spots of hard build up i could not get off .. but didnt think it would hurt anything .. and 6 months later no problem .. just a good rinse should take out anything that could be a problem with the tank ..

thanks, yah i did a really good wash/scrub with water so its pretty clean. the glass all looks good but i kinda wanna get those piece of the overflows nicer looking again cause the white spots are kinda distinct against the black. if i could get at least some of it off itd be nice.

i use CLR for the really hard stuff .. but you have to rinse the HELL out of it after .. but it works ..

yikes. not sure how comfortable i am with trying that out. i guess last resort i will but if theres something else i cud use instead ill try that first.

well i have used it on 5 or 6 tanks .. rinsed a few times and set it up .. didnt have a problem .. i know people will freak out .. but cleaning it out .. rinse .. rinse again .. and rinse one last time .. fill up .. and didnt have issues ..

its the same as dumping some into a lake .. its not going to kill anything .. its diluted enough .. and rinsing it over and over really dilutes it
