I am treating a 160 gallon pond for parasites. I have been unsuccessful using Prazil-Pro and Deasfin so am going with salt. I have removed my inverts but will need to treat them too before reintroducing them to the pond, mostly to prevent re-infestation of the pond.

Does anyone know the salt tolerance of Red Lobsters (Procambarus sp.) and of Japanese trapdoor snails? Could they tolerate Koivet's recommended parasite salt treatment of .3 salt for 2 weeks?

If not, could I remove them for the main treatment then possibly treat them separately with either a lesser concentration or for a brief time without killing them?

Thanks much!

i use the API salt test. ive kept my snails, crabs and crays up to 25% for weeks at a time without problems and had the tank temporarily up to 40% and no one acted funny. idea is to do it slowly over a week or two
