Salt water eel ID

I agree I think its a chain link. Haha that's a Petco isn't it, I'd know those tanks anywhere. Plus the term assorted eels rings a bell from when I worked there although when I ordered them I always got garden eels.
 
I saw some looked similar with a reddish tone to it but they all died and the employee tried to tell me it had nothing to do with them being in freshwater.
