In my 30gal I've been adding about a teaspoon or so of aquarium salt whenever I do my regular water changes along with Prime for basic water treatment. I have a senegal and a needlefish but someone told me that I shouldn't be adding salt since I have a senegal and that salt is only to be added if I see one of my fish is sick. This true?

you don't need salt unless you're treating particular diseases, some like camallanus for example, will not be affected by salt. I wouldn't be adding salt regularly at all

If you add it all the time, when you need it, it won't be as useful. Don't use it unless you are treating for sickness or you have fish that are natural to it.

You don't need to add salt unless treating for something or if the fish needs it.
